Uptown Phoenix is a minor part of Phoenix between Indian School Road and Missouri Avenue. Although it’s not vast, it includes extensive sampling of what the city offers. The combination of the trendy and historic allows residents to enjoy a variety of cultural attributes. The location is ideal for strolling through classic streets while taking in Phoenix’s heritage, having a day jaunting from one trendy shop or restaurant to another, or taking in some nature while hiking the mountains.


The dignity of the neighborhood is evident from its appearance. The homes are accented with luxurious front and backyards, venerable foliage, and historic architecture. The selection of home styles ranges from bungalows, English Tudors, Pueblo Revival, and Spanish Colonial Ranch. Closing up the hub of Phoenix on the North end, this section also includes some of the city’s most desirable neighborhoods, such as Medlock Place, Windsor Square, and Pierson Place. Additionally, Madison Square has the utmost modernistic in home selections, with newly built high-performance homes offering futuristic Apple smart home technology, among other innovations.

Uptown Phoenix is a great place to shop and dine. Luci's at The Orchard is a healthy staple of the community with its marketplace, cafe, coffee, juice bar, and vintage ice cream shop. The friendly atmosphere reflects its mission of nourishing the community and local businesses. The abundant natural light and citrus orchard provide a rejuvenating touch in the middle of the desert sun. 


Flower Child is another pillar of healthy eating in the community, with a menu offering vegetarian, vegan, meat-eating, keto, and paleo entrees. Patrons can pick and choose their ingredients and create a tasty meal chock full of nutrients. Easy counter ordering and plentiful outdoor seating add to the enjoyment of the visit. 


Joyride Taco House is the supreme in Mexican cuisine. Inviting, friendly, relaxing, and delicious are its signifiers. The casual vibe prompts people to “ride in and sit back awhile,” enjoying tasty tacos and fantastic cocktails in a social atmosphere.


Uptown Plaza, centrally located on the northeast corner of Central Avenue and Camelback Road, allows for an energetic shopping experience. As the first suburban shopping center in Phoenix, it’s the perfect community headquarters situated among Medlock Place, Pierson Place, Windsor Square, and St. Francis. Art and sculpture lovers can revel in the selection at Cosanti. Artisan creators there design brilliant ceramic bells, vessels, and jewelry. Camelback Village Square has national names in supermarkets, and cafes, among other favorite retail spots. The Melrose District, also known as “The Curve,” is home to spectacular antique shops, art, dining, patio cocktailing, and dancing. This section of town has plenty to offer any style or palate. 

Things to Do 

Arizona’s vivid desert landscape is among the attractions of this locale. Near Piestewa Peak, Camelback Mountain, and Paradise Valley Village, numerous options for hiking among Phoenix’s gorgeous mountains and desert trails are available. Echo Canyon Recreation Area is a strenuous mountain hike but reviewed as well worth the effort. Granada Park is a breathtaking hideaway complete with gorgeous walkways, brilliant bodies of water, and adorned with palm trees and the desert sun overhead. 


McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park is an exclusive 30-acre railroad park with incredible activities. Feel the thrill of the Paradise and Pacific Railroad and Allan Herschel’s 1950s flavor carousel. Model railroads, park events, playgrounds, and the Scottsdale Railroad Museum add to the fun.  Sports and golf enthusiasts can get their 18 holes in at Orange Tree Golf Resort or Camelback Golf Club.
